Battut Guide

How to use Battut

Battut is a free, Shariah-compliant social media app for Muslims — a halal alternative to Instagram and X. This guide explains every feature and how to use it, step by step.

Last updated:

Battut runs on the web at app.battut.app and as apps for iPhone and Android. Button names below are from the web app; the mobile apps have the same features, though some menus are arranged differently.

Getting started

You can look around Battut without an account. Create a free account when you want to post, comment, like or message.

What Battut is

Battut is a social network built around Islamic values. You can share photo posts, videos (reels), stories and Khawater (short written reflections), follow creators and message friends. Uploads are screened automatically, music is not allowed, and community moderators called Shariah Guards review reported content. Battut is free and available in 11 languages, including English and Arabic.

Browse without an account

Guests can read the home feed, watch Reels, read Khawater, search, and open posts and public profiles.

How to do it

  1. Open app.battut.app in any browser. You land on the home feed.
  2. Use the menu to switch between "Home", "Search", "Khawater" and "Reels".
  3. When you try to like, comment, follow or share, Battut asks you to "Sign In" or "Create Account".

Create an account with email

Sign up with your email address and choose a unique username.

How to do it

  1. Tap "Sign Up" (or "Get Started" / "Join").
  2. Enter your "Name", a "Username (ID)", "Email Address", "Password" and "Confirm Password". Battut checks the username as you type and suggests alternatives if it is taken.
  3. Enter your "Date of Birth" and, optionally, your "Gender" (it decides your content environment — see Privacy & content environment).
  4. Tick the box to agree to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, then tap "Create Account".

Good to know

  • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • Usernames are at least 3 characters and can use letters, numbers, underscores (_) and periods (.).
  • Passwords need at least 6 characters.

Sign in with Google or Apple

You can also use "Continue with Google" or "Continue with Apple" on the sign-in and sign-up screens.

How to do it

  1. Tap "Continue with Google" or "Continue with Apple" and confirm in the window that opens.
  2. First time only: on "Complete Your Profile", choose a "Username (ID)", enter your "Date of Birth", optionally add your gender and a photo, then tap "Finish Setup".

Good to know

  • If your Google email already has a Battut password account, Battut asks for that password once to connect Google to it.

Verify your email

Until you confirm your email address you can browse, but you cannot like, comment or send messages.

How to do it

  1. Open the email Battut sent you and tap the link. You will see "Email Verified!".
  2. Back in Battut, tap "I've verified" on the yellow banner. Didn't get it? Tap "Resend email" and check your spam folder.

Reset a forgotten password

You can reset your password by email.

How to do it

  1. On the sign-in screen tap "Forgot Password?".
  2. Enter your email and tap "Send Reset Link".
  3. Open the link in the email, enter a new password (at least 8 characters) twice, and tap "Reset password".

Log out

Tap the log-out icon on your own profile, or "Logout" in the side menu on mobile, and confirm.

Roles and memberships

Everyone on Battut has a role that decides what they can do: guest, member, creator, Battut Plus subscriber, Shariah Guard, or the Battut team. Creator channels and Battut Plus are not available yet.

All roles at a glance

Each role builds on the one before it. One person can have several, for example a member who is also a creator and a Plus subscriber.

How to do it

  1. Guest: anyone without an account. Can browse, watch and search.
  2. Member: a free account. Can post, comment, like, follow and message once the email is verified.
  3. Creator (not available yet): a member with a creator channel.
  4. Battut Plus (not available yet): an optional paid membership.
  5. Shariah Guard: a volunteer moderator who reviews reported content.
  6. Battut team: Battut staff who handle account and message reports, appeals, Guard approvals and bans.

Guest

Without an account you can read the home feed, watch Reels, read Khawater, search, and open posts and public profiles. Prayer times, the Qibla compass and the dhikr counter also work without an account. To like, comment, follow, share, post or message, create a free account.

Member

A member has a free Battut account. After verifying your email you can do everything in this guide: post photos, videos, stories and Khawater, comment, like, follow, save, share, send messages, report content and apply to become a Shariah Guard. Membership is and will remain free.

Shariah Guard

Shariah Guards are members who passed the Guard quiz and were approved by the Battut team. They get a "Guard Duty" page where they review reported posts, reels, stories, Khawater and comments, and a "Guard" badge on their profile. They cannot review reports about accounts or private messages, and cannot review their own content. See "Become a Shariah Guard" to apply.

Battut team

Battut staff review reports about accounts and private messages, handle appeals and escalations from Shariah Guards, approve Guard applications, and can suspend accounts that break the rules. Official messages from the team arrive from "Battut Security".

Creators (not available yet)

Creator channels are not available yet. They will let members turn their profile into a channel. Details will be added to this guide when creator channels open.

Battut Plus (not available yet)

Battut Plus is not available yet and cannot be bought. It will be an optional paid membership. Everything you can do on Battut today is free, including posting, messaging, prayer times, the Qibla compass and the dhikr counter. Details will be added to this guide when Battut Plus opens.

Feed, Reels, Khawater and search

Battut has a personalised home feed, a full-screen video feed (Reels), a text feed (Khawater) and search.

The home feed

The home feed ("For You") mixes photo posts, videos and text posts. Stories from people you follow appear at the top. Pull down to refresh on mobile; more posts load as you scroll.

Good to know

  • New posts get a boost, and posts from people you follow are ranked higher.
  • Your interests (Settings → Content Standards → Interests) and what you engage with shape the feed.
  • Posts you have already seen move down, so the feed stays fresh. The feed also avoids showing many posts in a row from the same person.
  • Videos in the middle of the screen play automatically. Tap a video to open it full screen in Reels.
  • Some posts are marked "Sponsored". These are ads.

Daily intention (Niyyah)

Once a day Battut asks "What brings you here today?" — "Learn", "Relax", "Family" or "Discover". Your choice gently shapes that day's feed. Tap "Skip" to ignore it, or tap the pill at the top of the feed to change it later.

Show more or less of something

You can teach the feed what you like.

How to do it

  1. Tap "More" (⋯) on a post.
  2. Choose "Show more like this", or "Not Interested" to hide the post and see less like it.

Reels (full-screen videos)

Reels shows videos one at a time, full screen. Every video post appears here.

How to do it

  1. Tap "Reels" in the menu.
  2. Swipe up or down (or use the arrow keys on a computer) to move between videos.
  3. Use the buttons on the side to "Like", "Comment", "Share", "Save", "Mute", or "Echo" (repost). On phones, "Echo" is inside "More".
  4. Double-tap the video to like it.

Good to know

  • By default a video loops when it ends. To move to the next video automatically, turn on Settings → Display & language → "Auto-play next video".
  • After many reels in one session Battut gently asks whether it is a good moment to pause. You can choose "Keep watching" or "I'm done for now".
  • Battut may occasionally ask "Was this worth your time?" so you can rate a video.

Khawater (text posts)

Khawater (singular: Khatir) are short written thoughts and reflections, similar to tweets. The Khawater feed shows the newest first.

How to do it

  1. Tap "Khawater" in the menu, or "Khawater" on the composer card at the top of the home feed.
  2. Use "Reply" to comment, "Share" to repost or quote, and "Save" to bookmark.

Channels bar and Discover Channels

Tap the Battut logo at the top of the screen to open your channels bar: the creators you follow. A "New drop" ring means they posted since you last looked. Tap a creator to see all their posts, reels and Khawater in one place.

How to do it

  1. To find new creators, tap "+ Add a channel" at the end of the bar to open "Discover Channels".
  2. Tap "Subscribe" next to a creator. Subscribing is the same as following.

Notifications (Activity)

The Activity page lists likes, comments, mentions, new followers, messages and updates from Battut and the Shariah Guard, grouped by Today, Yesterday, This Week and Older.

How to do it

  1. Open "Notifications".
  2. Use the filters ("All", "Likes", "Comments", "Mentions", "Follows" and more) to narrow the list.
  3. Tap "Mark all read", or "Follow Back" on a new follower.

Good to know

  • Choose which push notifications you get, and set quiet hours, in Settings → Notifications.
  • On a profile you follow, tap the bell to ask for notifications when that creator posts.

Liking, commenting and sharing

Every post has an action bar: like, comment and share on the left; save and more on the right. You need an account with a verified email to like, comment and message.

Like a post

Tap the heart, or double-tap the photo or video. Tap the heart again to unlike. Likes made while offline are sent when you reconnect.

Comment, reply and react

Join the conversation under any post.

How to do it

  1. Tap the comment icon, type in "Add a comment..." and send.
  2. To reply, tap "Reply" under a comment. Your reply starts with @their name.
  3. To react, tap "React" and choose ❤️ 👍 😂 😮 😢 or 🙏. Tap your reaction again to remove it.
  4. Delete your own comment with "Delete". Report someone else's with "Report".

Save a post

Tap the bookmark icon ("Save") on a post. Tap it again to unsave.

Share, repost and quote

Tap the share icon (paper plane) to open the share sheet.

How to do it

  1. "Repost" shares the post to your followers (it appears on your profile's Reposts tab). "Undo repost" removes it.
  2. "Quote" lets you add your own thoughts. It is posted as a Khatir that includes the original post.
  3. "Send Message" shares it privately in a chat.
  4. "Copy Link" copies the post link. You can also share straight to WhatsApp, X (Twitter), Facebook, Telegram, Reddit or email, or use "More" for your phone's share options.

Follow people

Tap "Follow" on a post or profile. The button changes to "Followed" (or "Follow Back" if they already follow you). To unfollow, tap it again and confirm. People you follow rank higher in your feed and appear in your channels bar.

See a translation

When a caption, Khatir, comment or message is written in a different language from yours, tap "See translation". The text is translated automatically and labelled "Auto-translated". Tap "See original" to switch back.

Good to know

  • Choose the language to translate into, or turn translations off, in Settings → Display & language → Translation.

Video captions (CC) and transcripts

Battut transcribes videos automatically, so most videos have captions and a full transcript.

How to do it

  1. Tap the "CC" button on a video to turn captions on or off.
  2. Press and hold "CC" (or right-click it) to choose the caption language: the original language or an automatic translation.
  3. Choose "Show transcript" to read the whole text. It follows along with the video, and you can tap a line to jump to that moment.

Good to know

  • Auto-translated captions may contain mistakes. Set your default in Settings → Display & language → "Video captions" and "Caption language".

Creating posts, videos, stories and Khawater

Everything starts from "Create". You need to be signed in.

The Create screen

Tap "Create" and choose what to share: "Photo" (up to 10 photos), "Video" (shown in your feed and in Reels), "Story" (disappears after 24 hours) or "Khawater" (a written thought).

Post photos

A photo post can have 1 to 10 images. With more than one it becomes a swipeable carousel.

How to do it

  1. Tap "Create" → "Photo" and select your photos. Use "Add more" to add more, and "Move earlier" / "Move later" to change the order.
  2. Tap "Next" to edit. Tap the pencil to crop (1:1, 4:5, 1.91:1 or original), apply filters, adjust brightness and colour, or add text, stickers and drawings.
  3. Tap "Next", write your caption and add details (see below).
  4. Tap "Next" for the "Audience" step, then "Next" again to review, and "Share".

Good to know

  • Each image can be up to 10 MB.

Post a video (reel)

A video post holds one video. It appears in your followers' feeds and in Reels.

How to do it

  1. Tap "Create" → "Video" and select a video.
  2. Edit it: "Trim" the start and end, "Crop" (9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9), change "Speed" (0.5× to 2×), add filters, text, stickers or drawings, and choose a "Cover".
  3. Under "Audio" you can "Mute original audio" or change the volume.
  4. Tap "Advanced" for the timeline editor: add several clips, split, trim, undo and redo, then "Export".
  5. Continue with caption, audience and review, then tap "Share".

Good to know

  • Videos can be up to 100 MB and 60 seconds long. Some creator accounts have higher limits.
  • MP4 and MOV work best. AVI, MKV, FLV and WMV files are not accepted.
  • Music is not allowed. If Battut detects music you will be asked what to do — see Music policy.

Caption, hashtags, mentions, tags, location and alt text

On the "New Post" step you add the details of your post.

How to do it

  1. Write a caption (required for photo and video posts, up to 2,200 characters).
  2. Type # to add a hashtag or @ to mention someone. Suggestions appear as you type.
  3. Use "Tag people" to tag accounts in the post. Tagged people can remove themselves later.
  4. Add a location by searching for a place or tapping "Use current location". Battut only shows the place name and city, never your street address.
  5. For photos, add alt text ("Describe each image for people using screen readers").
  6. For videos, pick a "Cover frame" for the thumbnail.

Sisters only / Brothers only

On the "Audience" step you can hide a post from the other gender. Women see the switch "Sisters only", men see "Brothers only". When it is on, the post is not shown to the other gender.

Good to know

  • You must set your gender in your profile first.
  • You can make this the default for all new posts in Settings → Content Standards → "Restrict My Content by Default".
  • This is a best-effort filter, not a guarantee. Only share what you would be comfortable with anyone seeing.

Publishing and review

Tap "Share" on the review screen. Battut shows progress while it prepares, uploads and saves your post. Photos are checked on your device before upload, and content flagged as inappropriate cannot be added. After upload, a post may show "Under review — visible only to you until approved".

Good to know

  • If an upload fails you can tap "Retry" or "Discard".
  • Posts waiting for review are listed in Library → "In Review".

Drafts and the Library

Battut saves your work in progress automatically. When you open Create again it asks "Continue where you left off?" — tap "Continue" or "Start fresh".

How to do it

  1. Open "Library" from the menu, the Create screen or your profile.
  2. "Drafts" lists unfinished posts. Tap one to continue, or delete it.
  3. "In Review" shows posts waiting for review and uploads in progress. "Published" shows your posts.

Good to know

  • Drafts are stored on this device and browser only. Up to 20 drafts are kept; very large videos cannot be kept as drafts.

Write a Khatir

A Khatir is a short written post of up to 500 characters.

How to do it

  1. Tap "Create" → "Khawater", or "New Khatir" on the Khawater page.
  2. Write in "What's on your mind?". You can add #hashtags, one photo or video, or "Link a post" of yours.
  3. Optionally turn on "Restrict from other gender".
  4. Tap "Post".

Good to know

  • To remove a Khatir, open its menu and choose "Delete thread".

Stories and story stickers

A story is a photo or video that disappears after 24 hours.

How to do it

  1. Tap "Create" → "Story", or "Add story" at the start of the stories row.
  2. Pick a photo or video.
  3. Optionally add stickers: "Poll", "Question", "Quiz", "Slider" or "Link" (https links only).
  4. Tap "Share story".

Good to know

  • You can see who viewed your story and the sticker results.
  • Delete a story from its menu with "Delete story".
  • Stories with music are sent for review and may be removed.

Edit, delete and pin your posts

Manage your posts from their "More" (⋯) menu.

How to do it

  1. "Edit post" changes the caption and location. Photos, videos, tags and audience cannot be changed after posting.
  2. "Delete" removes the post permanently.
  3. On your profile grid, "Pin to profile" keeps a post at the top of your profile. You can pin up to 3 posts.
  4. To delete several posts at once, press and hold a post on your profile grid, select posts, then tap "Delete".

Correct a video transcript

If the automatic transcript of your video has mistakes, open the video's menu and choose "Edit searchable text / transcript". Edit the original-language and English text, then tap "Save". This text helps people find your video in search; it is not shown on the post itself.

Music policy

Battut is a music-free platform. Videos are checked for music on your device when you select them.

When music is detected

If Battut finds music in your video, you see "Music detected" and two choices.

How to do it

  1. "Remove at publish": when you share, Battut uses AI to separate the voices from the music and publishes the voice-only version. If removal fails, the post is published with its original audio and flagged.
  2. "Keep (per policy)": the post is published but marked for review under the Shariah music policy, and it may be removed.

Good to know

  • If you don't choose, the post is treated as "keep" and flagged for review.
  • Muting the original audio in the video editor also removes the music.
  • Stories with music are reported for review automatically.
  • Shariah Guards can also mute or remove music from published videos.

Private messages

Messages are private one-to-one chats. Group chats and calls are not available.

Start a chat

You can message anyone who accepts messages from you.

How to do it

  1. Open "Messages" and tap "New Message". Search for a person and select them.
  2. Or open someone's profile and tap "Message".
  3. Type your message and send. In a new chat you can tap a quick greeting such as "🙌 Assalamu alaykum!".

Message requests

A first message from someone you don't follow arrives in "Message requests" instead of your inbox. They don't know you have seen it until you accept.

How to do it

  1. Tap the "Message requests" bar at the top of your chats.
  2. Open a request and choose "Accept", "Decline", "Block" or "Report". Replying also accepts it.

Good to know

  • Control who can start chats with you in Settings → Privacy → Messages: "Everyone", "Following" or "None".

Photos, videos, files and voice messages

Tap "Attach" to send a photo or video, take one with the camera, or send a file (up to 50 MB each).

How to do it

  1. For a voice message, hold the microphone button and release to send.
  2. Slide to cancel, or slide up to lock the recording and keep your hands free; then tap stop to send.

Reply, react, forward, copy and pin

Press and hold a message (or right-click it on a computer) to open its actions.

How to do it

  1. React with ❤️ 😂 😮 😢 😡 👍, or tap "+" for more, including 🕌 📿 🤲.
  2. Choose "Reply" to answer a specific message, "Forward" to send it to someone else, or "Copy".
  3. "Pin to top" keeps an important message at the top of the chat.
  4. Use the search icon in the chat header to search the conversation.

Edit and delete messages

You can fix or remove what you sent.

How to do it

  1. To edit, open a text message you sent and tap "Edit". You can edit for 15 minutes after sending; edited messages are marked "edited".
  2. To delete, tap "Delete" and choose "Delete for me" or (for your own messages) "Delete for everyone".
  3. To clear a whole chat, open the ⋮ menu in the chat and choose "Clear Chat".

Disappearing messages

In a chat, open the ⋮ menu → "Disappearing Messages" and choose "24 hours", "7 days" or "Off". New messages disappear after that time. Either person in the chat can change this.

Read receipts and online status

Ticks show whether your message is sent, delivered or read. The chat header shows when the other person is typing, "Active now", or when they were last active.

Mute, block or report in chats

Open the ⋮ menu in a chat.

How to do it

  1. "Mute Notifications" silences that chat.
  2. "Block User" stops all messages in both directions.
  3. "Report" sends the conversation to Battut's team with your reason. To report one message, press and hold it and tap "Report".

Good to know

  • Reports about private messages are reviewed by Battut admins only, not by community moderators.

Safety, moderation and the Shariah Guard

Battut keeps content halal with automatic screening, community moderators and member reports.

Automatic screening

Photos are checked on your device before upload, and content flagged as nudity or otherwise inappropriate cannot be posted. Uploaded posts can be scanned again on the server and held for review. Videos are checked for music.

Report a post, comment, user or message

If you see something harmful or non-compliant, report it. Reports are confidential.

How to do it

  1. Post: open "More" (⋯) and tap "Report". Comment: tap "Report" under it. User: open their profile → "More options" → "Report user". Message: press and hold it → "Report".
  2. Choose a reason. Shariah reasons include Immodesty / Awrah, Music & Instruments, Haram Content, Aqeedah / Bid'ah, Riba / Haram Finance and Disrespecting the Sacred. General reasons include Spam, Harassment, Hate Speech, Violence, Scam / Fraud and Impersonation.
  3. Add details if you want, and tap "Submit Report".

Good to know

  • Shariah reports about posts and comments go to the Shariah Guard. Reports about accounts and private messages go to Battut admins.
  • Posts reported by several different people can be hidden automatically until a person reviews them.

Guard actions and appeals

A Shariah Guard can blur a post, limit it to "Females Only" (shown with a pink flower badge), remove its music or vocals, or block it. If this happens to your post you are notified and can appeal.

How to do it

  1. Open your post's "More" (⋯) menu and tap "Appeal Shariah Action".
  2. Add a reason if you want, and tap "Submit appeal". The status changes to under appeal, then approved or rejected.

Official messages from Battut Security

Official messages from Battut, such as replies to appeals, arrive in Messages from "Battut Security". You can reply in the same chat. Only Battut can send from this account.

Become a Shariah Guard

Shariah Guards are volunteer community moderators. They review reported posts, reels, stories, Khawater and comments and decide whether to approve, blur, limit to sisters, remove music, block, or escalate to Battut's team.

How to do it

  1. Make sure your email is verified.
  2. Open Settings → Community → "Shariah Guard Application" and tap "Apply Now".
  3. Read the Shariah Guard introduction, choose the languages you speak and tap "Accept & Continue".
  4. Tap "Start Quiz" and answer the questions. You need 80% to pass. You have 3 attempts, with 24 hours between attempts.
  5. After passing, Battut's team reviews your application and notifies you of the decision.

The Community Covenant

The Community Covenant (battut.app/community) describes the duties every member shares: lower your gaze, guard your tongue and keyboard, conceal rather than expose, and forbid the wrong by reporting harm.

Privacy and your content environment

Battut gives you controls over who sees your posts, who can message you, and whose content you see.

Content environments

Your content environment (Male Environment or Female Environment) follows the gender in your profile. Change your gender in Settings → Account Information. These settings only change what you see; they never change other people's content.

Hide the other gender

In Settings → Content Standards you will find two switches.

How to do it

  1. "Hide Other Gender" hides posts from the other gender across your feed, search and Khawater, and their profiles where possible.
  2. "Restrict My Content by Default" makes every new post Sisters only or Brothers only. You can still change it per post.
  3. "Reset to Default Settings" restores the defaults for your gender.

Good to know

  • These are best-effort filters, not a guarantee of privacy. Only share what you would be comfortable with anyone seeing.

Choose who can message you

In Settings → Privacy → Messages choose "Everyone" (people you don't follow arrive as message requests), "Following", or "None" (nobody can start a new chat). Tap "Save Changes".

Block and unblock people

Block someone from their profile ("More options" → "Block user"), from a chat, or from a message request. Blocking removes any follow between you and stops messages both ways. To unblock, go to Settings → Privacy → "Blocked Users" and tap "Unblock".

Profiles are public

All Battut profiles and posts are currently public. Private accounts are coming soon. Use Sisters only / Brothers only, blocking and message settings to control your experience.

Your profile

Your profile shows who you are and everything you have shared.

What is on a profile

A profile shows a cover photo, profile photo, name, @username, bio, links, and counts of posts, followers and following. Tabs show "Photos", "Reels", "Reposts", "Khawater" and "Tagged" posts. If the person has a live story, tap their photo to watch it.

Good to know

  • A "Guard" badge marks a Shariah Guard. "Follows you" means that person follows you.

Edit your profile

Open your profile and tap "Edit Profile".

How to do it

  1. Change your cover photo ("Reposition" to drag it into place) and profile photo.
  2. Edit your name (up to 30 characters), username and bio (up to 150 characters).
  3. Under "Social Links" tap "Add link" to add X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Telegram, WhatsApp, a website or a custom link (up to 8).

Notifications and quiet hours

In Settings → Notifications switch push notifications on or off for likes, comments, new followers, posts from people you follow, mentions and tags, messages, announcements and the discovery digest. Turn on "Enable Quiet Hours" and set a start and end time to pause notifications (default 22:00–07:00, in your device's time zone).

Display, language and video

In Settings → Display & language:

How to do it

  1. "Dark Mode" switches between light and dark themes.
  2. "Language": English, العربية (Arabic, right-to-left), Bahasa Melayu, Français, Español, Deutsch, 中文, Русский, Português, 日本語 or हिन्दी.
  3. "Auto-play Sound" plays videos with sound by default.
  4. "Auto-play next video" moves to the next reel when one ends instead of replaying it.
  5. "Translation", "Video captions" and "Caption language" control automatic translations and captions.

Data Saver

Data Saver ("Automatic", "On" or "Off") uses smaller images and lower-quality video and stops videos loading in advance. On a slow connection Battut switches to low-data mode automatically and tells you. Some videos then show "Tap to play" instead of playing automatically.

Account and security

In Settings → Account Information you can change your username, name, birthday (not shown publicly), gender and social links, then tap "Save changes".

How to do it

  1. Change your email or password under Security (your current password is required).
  2. Connect your Google account under "Connected Accounts".
  3. See your account status, sign-in methods and email verification.

Interests

In Settings → Content Standards → Interests, pick the topics you care about and tap "Save". They personalise your feed and sponsored content.

Send a suggestion

In Settings → "Send a Suggestion" tell the Battut team what would make the app better (up to 2,000 characters) and tap "Send suggestion".

Delete your account

Deleting your account permanently removes your account and your posts. It cannot be undone.

How to do it

  1. Go to Settings → Account Information → "Delete Account".
  2. Type DELETE to confirm and enter your password (Google users confirm by signing in with Google again).
  3. Tap "Delete My Account".

Battut includes free worship tools. On the web, open them directly with the links below.

Prayer times

app.battut.app/worship shows today's Fajr, Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha times and a countdown to the next prayer.

How to do it

  1. Allow location access, or tap "Enter Coordinates Manually" and set your location.
  2. Under calculation settings choose a method (Umm al-Qura, Muslim World League, Egyptian, ISNA, Qatar, Singapore, Diyanet, Tehran, Dubai or Moonsighting Committee) and the Asr madhab (Shafi'i/Hanbali/Maliki or Hanafi).

Good to know

  • Adhan reminders are most reliable in the Battut mobile app.

Qibla compass

app.battut.app/qibla shows the direction of the Kaaba from where you are. Tap "Enable compass" on a phone for a live compass; otherwise the bearing is shown in degrees.

Dhikr counter

app.battut.app/dhikr is a tasbih counter. Choose a dhikr (such as SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah or Allahu Akbar), tap the large button to count, and see your count, target and completed rounds. Tap "Reset" to start again.
